PR: How Do You Write a Press Release?

To write a press release, you need to understand what it is not. Unlike other types of content, a press release is not a sales pitch. A press release is a formal announcement that broadcasts something new and interesting about your organization.

Here is the formula:

HEADLINE: The headline must capture attention and succinctly present the essence of the announcement.

LEAD: A compelling opening that quickly presents the who, what, where, when, and why to pique the interest of media outlets and the audience.

BODY:  Expanded details about the announcement, providing context, background, and implications. Include significant quotes from key individuals to lend credibility and offer insights.

BOILERPLATE: A brief overview of the organization issuing the release, highlighting its mission, foundation year, and any other relevant information.

CONTACT INFORMATION: Essential details for media inquiries, including phone number, email, and links to media resources.

Here is an example:

HEADLINE: New Company (or EarthHaus, in this example)  Develops Environmentally-Friendly Solutions

LEAD: EarthHaus, an innovative new company, is set to revolutionize green technology with their state-of-the-art solutions to help the environment. By creating efficient and sustainable products, they aim to protect the planet while cutting energy costs.

BODY:  The green energy solutions offered by EarthHaus utilize renewable resources such as wind and solar energy. With this technology, consumers can generate electricity, heat their homes, and power everyday electronics without harming the environment. In addition to these energy-saving products, the company is also working to reduce energy waste in everyday life by creating items such as eco-friendly light bulbs and energy-efficient appliances. EarthHaus is the future of green technology. With their sustainable products and eco-friendly solutions, this company is changing the way people think about the environment. Investing in their green solutions is an investment in the future of our planet.

BOILERPLATE: EarthHaus, founded in 2000, believes that green energy solutions will help consumers lead healthier lives and conserve the environment. By helping reduce global emissions and minimizing environmental damage, EarthHaus is determined to make the world a cleaner, greener place for future generations.
