Online Marketing

Online marketing is the practice of promoting products, services, brands, or organizations through internet-based channels to attract, engage, and convert target audiences. It encompasses a broad range of digital strategies that use websites, search engines, social media platforms, email, online advertising, and other digital tools to communicate with customers and achieve marketing objectives.

Businesses use online marketing to increase visibility, generate leads, drive website traffic, build customer relationships, and support sales growth. Common online marketing activities include search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, online advertising, influencer marketing, video marketing, affiliate marketing, and marketing automation. Campaign effectiveness is measured using metrics such as website traffic, engagement rates, click-through rates (CTR), conversion rates, customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (CLV), return on investment (ROI), and return on ad spend (ROAS).

By leveraging digital platforms, data analytics, and targeted communication, online marketing allows organizations to reach specific audiences, personalize messaging, track performance, and optimize campaigns in real time. It is a broad discipline that includes many of the strategies and channels used within digital marketing to build awareness, attract customers, and drive business growth.

For example, a small business may use online marketing by optimizing its website for search engines, publishing educational content, running targeted social media campaigns, sending email newsletters, and using online advertising to attract new customers.
