Mixed Reality (MR)

Mixed Reality (MR) is an immersive technology that combines elements of both the physical and digital worlds by integrating virtual objects with real-world environments in a way that allows users to interact with and manipulate digital content as if it exists within their physical surroundings. Unlike Virtual Reality (VR), which creates a completely digital environment, and Augmented Reality (AR), which overlays digital elements onto the real world, mixed reality enables deeper interaction between physical spaces and virtual experiences.

Businesses use mixed reality across industries including marketing, healthcare, education, manufacturing, architecture, retail, entertainment, and product design. Common applications include interactive product demonstrations, virtual prototypes, immersive training simulations, collaborative design environments, digital showrooms, medical visualization, and augmented workplace tools. MR experiences are typically delivered through specialized devices such as advanced headsets and spatial computing platforms that understand and map the user’s environment.

By blending digital content with real-world experiences, mixed reality helps organizations improve collaboration, enhance learning, visualize complex concepts, and create highly engaging customer and employee experiences. In marketing and communications, MR can be used to create interactive brand experiences that allow audiences to explore products, environments, and stories in new and memorable ways.

For example, an automotive manufacturer may use mixed reality to allow engineers and customers to interact with a life-sized digital vehicle model placed within a real-world showroom, exploring features and configurations without requiring a physical prototype.
