CASE STUDY: Green Partnerships in the Caribbean, How Cadwell Inc. and Grozina Promoted Sustainability Across the Caribbean Islands

BACKGROUND:

Grozina has always been passionate about life and sustainability. When we were approached by Cadwell Inc. to promote their efforts in the Caribbean, we jumped at the opportunity. Cadwell Inc. was the first company to successfully remove and recycle over 3.4 million pounds of waste from the Caribbean, making them a trailblazer in environmental sustainability efforts in the region.

CHALLENGE:

Cadwell Inc. was keen on undertaking a substantial environmental project aimed at managing and reducing waste in the Caribbean region. However, their challenge was to generate widespread awareness and encourage participation across all islands, each with distinct cultural, societal and linguistic barriers. There was also a critical need to reshape the public’s perception of environmental sustainability and showcase its relevance and urgency.

PROCESS:

Grozina’s role was crucial in promoting Cadwell’s initiatives and garnering support from other islands in the Caribbean. We knew that in order to achieve success, we had to focus on local Caribbean newspapers, such as Saba News, as they had a greater reach among the local communities. Through private and government-owned newspapers, we highlighted Cadwell’s initiatives, and how they tied into broader national environmental and sustainability efforts.

We wrote engaging articles and press releases showcasing the real impact of Cadwell’s efforts and facilitated changes in public perception towards environmental sustainability.

RESULTS:

Cadwell’s waste removal and recycling efforts were lauded as a great success, and the partnership between Cadwell Inc. and the government of Saba became a model for other islands to follow. The awareness raised prompted numerous other Caribbean islands to participate in environmental conservation efforts including Haiti, Martinique, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Cadwell’s activities helped mitigate waste issues, transforming the Caribbean region from a trash-impacted area into a balance of development and conservation.

IMPACT:

The success story of Cadwell Inc. illustrates the positive effect a committed corporate entity can have on global environmental preservation. Cadwell’s proactive environmental stance, aided by our effective PR strategy, turned it into an inspiration for the whole Caribbean, demonstrating how partnership and commitment can lead to significant changes in environmental practices. This initiative has made substantial strides in maintaining the region’s ecological balance, showcasing a clear path towards a more sustainable future.
