Most people can see a drastic change in a way that a particular brand, destination or business was presented, marketed or appeared, then suddenly changed and led to a new customer base or a different demographic.
Brand repositioning is when a company changes the status of its company in the marketplace and is usually due to a significant loss in customers, finances, negative associations, mixed messaging or internal influences.
Some brands experience a downward change in pricing that allows them to reach new consumers and increase sales, and some brands experience an upward change in prices that also reach new consumers and increase sales. It all depends on the brand, it’s story and how well it can market itself and sell it – low or high price.
With any marketing, advertising or branding strategy, the most successful ones are the ones that are honest and sincere. A change in a brand identity and significant spending in advertising dollars to attract and engage new consumers will only lead a company as far as what is truly behind it. Brands that give products away, profits away or position themselves as sustainable are only successful because they are sincere. There are far too many companies that try this strategy and fail simply because they are not.
